Clip choices for the presentation

Each block is one slide and the point it makes. Under it are the animated clips that can prove that point. Play them, tick the one you want (or "none, use the drawn animation"), add a note if you like, then press the button at the bottom and send the text back.

All clips are existing manufacturer or medical-animation videos, checked one by one. No real patients, no AI-generated video.

Direct digitization: the intraoral scanner

Point: scan directly with a hand-held scanner. Faster, more comfortable, accuracy comparable to PVS impressions. Suitable for single-tooth restorations and short-span FDPs.

Limitation 1: errors accumulate over long scans

Point: the scanner stitches many small images; each join carries a small error; over a full arch the errors add up to distortion. (A drawn animation of the drift itself is on the slide as well.)

Wetness and existing restorations

Point A: moisture changes how light reflects, keep the field dry. Point B: reflective restorations scan poorly; a thin uniform layer of scanning powder reduces reflection.

CAD/CAM: preparation, capture, milling, placement

Points: standardised tooth preparation with a clear finish line; optical capture with interocclusal registration; CNC milling of the block; same-day placement. One clip per step.

Chapter 4 · slide 31

The virtual articulator: two types

Point: software reproduces the interarch relationship and simulates jaw movements. Type 1, completely adjustable: records the real mandibular paths with an electronic jaw registration system. Type 2, mathematically simulated: calculates movements from entered values (Bennett angle, condylar inclination, VDO, incisal table).
